1. error; fault (a mistake or shortcoming)

   这是我的过失，我会改正。 zhè shì wǒ de guòshī wǒhuì gǎizhèng — This is my fault; I will correct it.

2. (law) negligence (failure to take proper care in doing something)

   法院认定他的过失导致了事故的发生。 fǎyuàn rèndìng tā de guòshī dǎozhì liǎo shìgù de fāshēng — The court found that his negligence caused the accident.

3. delinquency (misconduct or failure to fulfill duty)

   学生的学习过失可能影响毕业资格。 xuéshēng de xuéxí guòshī kěnéng yǐngxiǎng bìyè zīgé — The student's academic delinquency may affect graduation eligibility.
