1. a draft or draught that passes straight through a room or house; a sudden gust of wind indoors. (Fig.) an unfriendly or chilly atmosphere in a household or between family members.

   别着急把门关上，免得吹到过堂风。 biézháojí bǎmén guānshàng miǎnde chuīdào guòtángfēng — Don't hurry to shut the door, or you'll let a draft through the house.
