过场 — guòchǎng

1. interlude; a short performance or piece between parts of a play or concert

   戏剧中间有一个短暂的过场表演。 xìjù zhōngjiān yǒu yígè duǎnzàn de guòchǎng biǎoyǎn — There is a short interlude performance between parts of the play.

2. to cross the stage; to move across the stage

   演员在场景转换时从一侧过场到另一侧。 yǎnyuán zài chǎngjǐng zhuǎnhuàn shí cóng yīcè guòchǎng dào lìngyīcè — The actor crossed the stage from one side to the other during the scene change.

3. to do something as a mere formality; to go through the motions

   他只是过场地签了名，实际上并没有参与讨论。 tā zhǐshì guò chǎngdì qiān le míng shíjìshàng bìng méiyǒu cānyù tǎolùn — He just signed as a formality and did not actually participate in the discussion.
