过关 — guòguān

1. to pass (a test); to meet a required standard

   他这次考试终于过关了。 tā zhècì kǎoshì zhōngyú guòguān le — He finally passed the exam this time.

2. to get through (an ordeal or difficulty)

   经过几个月的努力，公司终于过关了。 jīngguò jǐgè yuè de nǔlì gōngsī zhōngyú guòguān le — After months of effort, the company finally got through the difficulty.

3. to cross a barrier (literal); to get past a checkpoint

   卡车检查站一过关就可以上高速了。 kǎchē jiǎncházhàn yī guòguān jiù kěyǐ shàng gāosù le — Once the truck passes the checkpoint it can get onto the highway.
