过 — guò

1. to cross; to go over; to pass (a place or barrier)

   我们过桥就到了。 wǒmen guòqiáo jiù dào le — We cross the bridge and we'll arrive.

2. to pass (time); to spend (holidays); to celebrate

   我们一起过春节。 wǒmen yìqǐ guò chūnjié — We celebrate Spring Festival together.

3. to live; to get along; to manage (one's life)

   他在上海过得很好。 tā zài shànghǎi guò dé hěn hǎo — He lives very well in Shanghai.

4. excessively; too- (used before adjectives)

   他这次玩过头了，惹了麻烦。 tā zhècì wán guòtóu le rě le máfán — He took it too far this time and got into trouble.

过 — guo

1. (aspect marker) indicates a completed or experienced action

   我吃过北京烤鸭。 wǒ chī guò běijīngkǎoyā — I have eaten Peking duck (before).
