辰 — chén

1. the 5th Earthly Branch (used in the traditional Chinese time system) corresponding to the hours 7–9 a.m.

   辰时大约是早上七点到九点。 chénshí dàyuē shì zǎoshàng qīdiǎn dào jiǔdiǎn — The chen hour is approximately from 7 to 9 in the morning.

2. the 3rd solar month in the traditional Chinese calendar (roughly 5 April–4 May)

   今年辰月雨水特别多。 jīnnián chén yuè yǔshuǐ tèbié duō — There has been especially heavy rain in the third solar month this year.

3. a designation for the Year of the Dragon in the sexagenary cycle

   那一年是辰年，也就是龙年。 nà yīnián shì chén nián yě jiùshì lóng nián — That year was a chen year, i.e. the Year of the Dragon.

4. an ancient Chinese compass point corresponding to 120°

   船长用罗盘把船头对准辰位。 chuánzhǎng yòng luópán bǎ chuántóu duìzhǔn chén wèi — The captain used the compass to point the bow at the chen bearing.
