辙 — zhé

1. rut; track left by a wheel

   车轮在泥地里留下深深的辙。 chēlún zài ní dìlǐ liúxià shēnshēn de zhé — The wheels left deep ruts in the mud.

2. (coll.) the direction or lane of traffic

   道路的辙向不明，容易发生事故。 dàolù de zhé xiàng bùmíng róngyì fāshēng shìgù — The traffic flow direction on the road is unclear, making accidents more likely.

3. a rhyme or metrical pattern (of a song, poem, etc.)

   这首词的辙很讲究，押韵工整。 zhè shǒu cí de zhé hěn jiǎngjiū yāyùn gōngzhěng — The tune's metrical pattern is careful; the rhymes are neat.
