辈 — bèi

1. lifetime; the whole of someone's life

   他一辈子都在这座城市里生活。 tā yībèizi dōu zài zhè zuò chéngshì lǐ shēnghuó — He lived his whole life in this city.

2. generation; a cohort of people of roughly the same age; class (group)

   我们这一辈的人更习惯用智能手机。 wǒmen zhè yībèi de rén gèng xíguàn yòng zhìnéngshǒujī — People of our generation are more used to using smartphones.

3. classifier for generations (e.g., one generation older/younger); (literary) classifier for people

   他比我大一辈。 tā bǐ wǒ dà yībèi — He is one generation older than me.
