轰 — hōng

1. to boom; to rumble; (onomatopoeic) a loud explosive sound

   远处传来一阵轰隆的声音。 yuǎnchù chuánlái yīzhèn hōnglōng de shēngyīn — A rumbling boom came from far away.

2. to attack (esp. with artillery or bombs); to bombard

   军机对目标进行了轰炸。 jūnjī duì mùbiāo jìnxíng le hōngzhà — Warplanes bombed the target.

3. to shoo away; to expel; to dismiss forcefully

   经理当场把那个捣乱的顾客轰出了店里。 jīnglǐ dāngchǎng bǎ nàge dǎoluàn de gùkè hōngchū le diànlǐ — The manager immediately kicked that troublemaking customer out of the shop.
