1. a turn or change in the course of events; a turning point or plot twist

2. to turn or shift (the direction of a discussion, events, etc.)

   会议上她巧妙地把话题转折到公司的长期规划上。 huìyì shàng tā qiǎomiào dì bǎ huàtí zhuǎnzhé dào gōngsī de chángqī guīhuà shàng — At the meeting she deftly shifted the topic to the company's long-term planning.
