2. to pass on/transfer (blame, cost, obligation, unpleasant consequence); to pass the buck

   公司试图把生产成本转嫁给消费者。 gōngsī shìtú bǎ shēngchǎnchéngběn zhuǎnjiàgěi xiāofèizhě — The company tried to pass production costs on to consumers.
