1. to change; to convert; to transform (general)

   她努力把压力转化为动力。 tā nǔlì bǎ yālì zhuǎnhuà wèi dònglì — She works hard to transform pressure into motivation.

2. (genetics) to transform; to convert (e.g., cells acquiring new properties)

   某些病毒可以导致正常细胞转化为癌细胞。 mǒuxiē bìngdú kěyǐ dǎozhì zhèngcháng xìbāo zhuǎnhuà wèi áixìbāo — Some viruses can cause normal cells to transform into cancer cells.

3. (chemistry) isomerization; to convert from one chemical form to another

   在催化剂存在下，A可以转化为B。 zài cuīhuàjì cúnzài xià A kěyǐ zhuǎnhuà wèi B — In the presence of a catalyst, A can be converted into B.
