轨道 — guǐdào

1. track (for trains, trams, etc.)

   火车在轨道上奔跑。 huǒchē zài guǐdào shàng bēnpǎo — The train runs on the track.

2. orbit (of a satellite or celestial body)

   卫星已经进入预定轨道。 wèixīng yǐjīng jìnrù yùdìng guǐdào — The satellite has entered its scheduled orbit.

3. (fig.) a person's established path in life; career path

   他一直沿着既定的轨道发展事业。 tā yìzhí yánzhe jìdìng de guǐdào fāzhǎn shìyè — He has always developed his career along an established path.

4. desired trajectory (of a business, project, or endeavor)

   公司正在调整发展轨道以适应市场变化。 gōngsī zhèngzài tiáozhěng fāzhǎn guǐdào yǐ shìyìng shìchǎng biànhuà — The company is adjusting its development trajectory to adapt to market changes.

5. (audio engineering) track (as in a recorded track)

   这首歌的轨道需要重新混音。 zhè shǒugē de guǐdào xūyào chóngxīn hùnyīn — The track of this song needs to be remixed.

6. (quantum mechanics) orbital

   电子在原子轨道里以特定的概率分布。 diànzi zài yuánziguǐdào lǐ yǐ tèdìng de gàilǜfēnbù — Electrons are distributed in atomic orbitals with specific probabilities.
