身 — shēn

1. body; physical body

   他的身体很好。 tā de shēntǐ hěn hǎo — His body (health) is very good.

2. life; existence

   他一身经历了许多大事。 tā yīshēn jīnglì le xǔduō dàshì — Throughout his life he experienced many major events.

3. oneself; personally

   这件事我得亲身决定。 zhèjiàn shì wǒ dé qīnshēn juédìng — I have to decide this matter personally myself.

4. one's morality and conduct; personal reputation

   他立身正直，从不做违心的事。 tā lìshēn zhèngzhí cóng bù zuò wéixīn de shì — He conducts himself with integrity and never does anything against his conscience.

5. the main part of a structure or body; trunk

   这辆汽车的车身被划了一道。 zhèliàng qìchē de chēshēn bèi huà le yīdào — The body of this car has been scratched.

6. pregnant (literary/less common)

   她已身怀六甲，不宜剧烈运动。 tā yǐ shēnhuáiliùjiǎ bùyí jùlièyùndòng — She is already pregnant and should avoid strenuous exercise.

7. classifier for sets of clothes (suit, set), also for bodies of text/works in some compounds

   他买了一身新西装。 tā mǎi le yīshēn xīn xīzhuāng — He bought a new suit.

8. Kangxi radical 158 (component in characters)

   “躬”和“躯”都是身字旁的字。 gōng hé qū dōu shì shēn zìpáng de zì — 'Gōng' and 'qū' are both characters with the 'shēn' (body) radical.
