蹬腿 — dēngtuǐ

  1. to kick one's legs; to move one's legs repeatedly (e.g. a baby or patient)

    宝宝在床上蹬腿。 bǎobǎo zài chuángshàng dēngtuǐ — The baby is kicking his legs on the bed.

  2. leg press (exercise): an exercise for strengthening the legs

    他在健身房做蹬腿训练。 tā zài jiànshēnfáng zuò dēngtuǐ xùnliàn — He is doing leg press training at the gym.

  3. (colloquial) to kick the bucket; to die

    听说那位老人昨天蹬腿了。 tīngshuō nàwèi lǎorén zuótiān dēngtuǐ le — I heard that old man kicked the bucket yesterday.
