1. to step on; to tread on

   别把草地蹬坏了。 bié bǎ cǎodì dēng huài le — Don't trample the lawn.

2. to put on; to wear (shoes, trousers, etc.)

   他蹬上靴子就出门了。 tā dēng shàng xuēzi jiù chūmén le — He put on his boots and went out.

3. (slang) to dump (someone); to ditch (a partner)

   他被女朋友一气儿就给蹬了。 tā bèi nǚpéngyǒu yī qìér jiù gěi dēng le — His girlfriend dumped him in a fit of anger.

蹬 — dèng

1. component used in the compound 蹭蹬 (cèngdeng): to stall, hesitate, drag one's feet

   他在办手续上有点儿蹭蹬，事情没能马上办完。 tā zài bànshǒuxù shàng yǒudiǎnér cèngdèng shìqíng méinéng mǎshàng bànwán — He dragged his feet on the paperwork, so things couldn't be finished immediately.
