   士兵们在草地上蹈步巡逻。 shìbīng men zài cǎodìshàng dǎo bù xúnluó — The soldiers marched and stamped on the grass while patrolling.

2. to fulfill; to carry out (an obligation, vow, etc.)

   他誓言必将蹈以实行，将诺言化为行动。 tā shìyán bì jiāng dǎo yǐ shíxíng jiāng nuòyán huàwèi xíngdòng — He vowed to personally carry out his promise and turn it into action.
