1. to reconnoiter; to case the joint (spy out a place before committing a theft or action)

   他晚上去了那条街踩点，确认警卫换班时间。 tā wǎnshàng qù le nàtiáo jiē cǎidiǎn quèrèn jǐngwèi huànbān shíjiān — He went to that street at night to case the joint and confirm the guard's shift times.

2. to cut it fine; to arrive with no time to spare

   我们一路上踩点，最后一分钟才赶到会议室。 wǒmen yīlùshàng cǎidiǎn zuìhòu yìfēnzhōng cái gǎndào huìyìshì — We cut it fine on the way and only reached the meeting room at the last minute.

3. to dance to the beat; to step in time with music

   鼓点一响，大家都开始踩点跳舞。 gǔdiǎn yīxiǎng dàjiā dōu kāishǐ cǎidiǎn tiàowǔ — When the drumbeat started, everyone began to step to the beat and dance.
