跳楼 — tiàolóu

1. to jump from a building (to kill oneself)

   他跳楼自杀了。 tā tiàolóuzìshā le — He jumped from a building and killed himself.

2. fig. to sell at a large discount (to clear stock; lit. 'jump off the building')

   那家店为了清货把衣服跳楼处理。 nàjiā diàn wèile qīng huò bǎ yīfú tiàolóu chǔlǐ — That shop sold the clothes at rock-bottom prices to clear stock.
