跌 — diē

1. to fall; to tumble

   他从梯子上跌下来，摔断了手臂。 tā cóng tīzi shàng diēxiàlái shuāiduànle shǒubì — He fell from the ladder and broke his arm.

2. to trip (stumble) — lose balance and fall

   她在路上被石头绊了一下，差点跌倒。 tā zài lùshàng bèi shítou bàn le yīxià chàdiǎn diēdǎo — She tripped on a stone in the road and almost fell.

3. (of prices, temperatures, etc.) to drop; to fall (in value)

   今年夏天电价大幅下跌，家庭开支减少了。 jīnniánxiàtiān diànjià dàfú xiàdiē jiātíng kāizhī jiǎnshǎo le — This summer electricity prices dropped sharply, reducing household expenses.
