超时 — chāoshí

1. to exceed the time limit; to go past a deadline

   如果你超时提交作业，成绩会被扣分。 rúguǒ nǐ chāoshí tíjiāo zuòyè chéngjì huì bèi kòufēn — If you submit the assignment late, points will be deducted.

2. to work overtime; to stay beyond scheduled working hours

   这个月我经常得超时加班，真累。 zhège yuè wǒ jīngcháng dé chāoshí jiābān zhēnlèi — This month I often have to work overtime; it's really tiring.

3. (computing) timeout; a period after which a process is aborted

   请求超时，请检查网络连接或增加超时设置。 qǐngqiú chāoshí qǐng jiǎnchá wǎngluòliánjiē huò zēngjiā chāoshí shèzhì — Request timed out; please check your network connection or increase the timeout setting.
