起泡 — qǐpào

1. to bubble; to foam

   开水在锅里起泡。 kāishuǐ zài guō lǐ qǐpào — Boiling water is bubbling in the pot.

2. to blister (skin); to form blisters

   皮肤在灼伤后起泡。 pífū zài zhuóshāng hòu qǐpào — The skin blistered after the burn.

3. to sprout boils (on one's body)

   他感染后全身起泡。 tā gǎnrǎn hòu quánshēn qǐpào — After the infection he developed boils all over his body.

4. sparkling (wine); effervescent

   这瓶葡萄酒很起泡，适合庆祝。 zhè píng pútáojiǔ hěn qǐpào shìhé qìngzhù — This bottle of wine is sparkling; it's suitable for celebrations.

5. to foam up (e.g., detergent, soap)

   洗碗液一倒进水里就起泡了。 xǐwǎn yè yī dàojìn shuǐlǐ jiù qǐpào le — The dishwashing liquid foamed up as soon as it was added to the water.
