起步 — qǐbù

1. to set out; to start moving (e.g. a vehicle); to set in motion

   汽车发动后缓慢起步。 qìchē fādòng hòu huǎnmàn qǐbù — After the engine started, the car set off slowly.

2. the start; initial stage (of an activity or project)

   这个项目现在还处于起步阶段，需要更多资源。 zhège xiàngmù xiànzài hái chǔyú qǐbù jiēduàn xūyào gèngduō zīyuán — This project is still in its initial stage and needs more resources.
