1. to heckle; to create a disturbance (shout, jeer or make a commotion to interrupt)

   演讲被一些人在台下起哄打断了。 yǎnjiǎng bèi yīxiē rén zài táixià qǐhòng dǎduàn le — The speech was interrupted by some people heckling from the audience.

2. rowdy jeering; an outbreak of noisy heckling

   比赛场边传来一阵起哄，气氛变得紧张起来。 bǐsài chǎngbiān chuánlái yīzhèn qǐhòng qìfēn biàndé jǐnzhāng qǐlái — A burst of jeering came from the sidelines and the atmosphere grew tense.
