1. to confer; to bestow; to grant (usually by a superior, literary/formal)

   皇上赐了他一块土地。 huángshàng cì le tā yīkuài tǔdì — The emperor granted him a piece of land.

2. (literary) a gift; a favour; blessing

   那是皇上赐的礼物。 nà shì huángshàng cì de lǐwù — That is a gift bestowed by the emperor.
