   我把暖气调节到二十度。 wǒ bǎ nuǎnqì tiáojié dào èrshídù — I adjusted the heater to twenty degrees.

2. to harmonize; to reconcile (accounts, discrepancies)

   会计需要调节账目以消除差额。 kuàijì xūyào tiáojié zhàngmù yǐ xiāochú chāé — The accountant needs to reconcile the accounts to eliminate the discrepancy.
