误 — wù

1. mistake; error

   这是我的错误，请大家原谅。 zhè shì wǒ de cuòwù qǐng dàjiā yuánliàng — This is my mistake; please forgive me.

2. to miss (to fail to hit/catch); to get wrong

   他误了车，所以下班晚了。 tā wù le chē suǒyǐ xiàbān wǎn le — He missed the bus, so he got off work late.

3. to harm; to wrong (do harm to someone)

   老师不认真备课会误学生。 lǎoshī bù rènzhēn bèikè huì wù xuéshēng — A teacher who doesn't prepare seriously will harm the students.

4. to delay; to cause to be late

   堵车误了我半个小时。 dǔchē wù le wǒ bàngè xiǎoshí — The traffic jam delayed me by half an hour.

5. mistakenly; erroneously

   我误以为你已经离开了。 wǒ wùyǐwéi nǐ yǐjīng líkāi le — I mistakenly thought you had already left.
