讲 — jiǎng

1. to speak; to talk

   他今天不想跟别人讲话。 tā jīntiān bùxiǎng gēn biérén jiǎnghuà — He doesn't want to speak with others today.

2. to explain; to give an explanation

   老师给学生讲这个语法结构。 lǎoshī gěi xuéshēng jiǎng zhège yǔfǎjiégòu — The teacher explains this grammatical structure to the students.

3. to negotiate; to discuss terms

   两家公司还在为合同条款讲价。 liǎngjiā gōngsī hái zài wèi hétóngtiáokuǎn jiǎngjià — The two companies are still negotiating the contract terms.

4. to emphasize; to be particular about

   她讲究穿衣打扮，每次都很时髦。 tā jiǎngjiū chuānyī dǎbàn měicì dōu hěn shímáo — She is particular about her clothes and is fashionable every time.

5. as far as ... is concerned; regarding

   讲安全，大家都很重视防护措施。 jiǎng ānquán dàjiā dōu hěn zhòngshì fánghù cuòshī — Regarding safety, everyone values protective measures highly.

6. speech; lecture; talk

   校长在开学典礼上做了一次讲。 xiàozhǎng zài kāixuédiǎnlǐ shàng zuò le yīcì jiǎng — The principal gave a speech at the opening ceremony.
