   裁布的时候要注意花纹的走向。 cái bù de shíhòu yào zhùyì huāwén de zǒuxiàng — When cutting the fabric you need to pay attention to the pattern direction.

2. to reduce; to diminish; to cut back (e.g. on staff)

   公司因为业绩下滑不得不裁员。 gōngsī yīnwèi yèjì xiàhuá bùdé bù cáiyuán — The company had to lay off staff because of declining performance.
