落地 — luòdì

1. to fall to the ground; to drop onto the ground

   苹果从树上成熟后掉下来，很快就落地了。 píngguǒ cóng shùshàng chéngshú hòu diàoxiàlái hěnkuài jiù luòdì le — After the apple ripened it fell from the tree and soon hit the ground.

2. to be set on the ground; to reach down to the ground (e.g., sleeves, hem)

   他买的那件大衣太长了，衣摆刚好落地。 tā mǎi de nàjiàn dàyī tàizhǎng le yībǎi gānghǎo luòdì — The coat he bought was too long; the hem just reaches the ground.

3. to be born; to come into the world

   她刚生了个男孩，昨天晚上落地了。 tā gāng shēng le gè nánhái zuótiānwǎnshàng luòdì le — She just had a baby boy; he was born last night.

4. (of an aircraft) to land

   航班预计下午三点落地，请乘客做好准备。 hángbān yùjì xiàwǔ sāndiǎn luòdì qǐng chéngkè zuòhǎo zhǔnbèi — The flight is scheduled to land at 3 PM; passengers please prepare.
