1. grass; turf; herbage

   公园里的草长得很茂盛。 gōngyuán lǐ de cǎo zhǎng dé hěn màoshèng — The grass in the park is growing thickly.

2. straw; husk; thatch

   农民把稻草堆在仓库里。 nóngmín bǎ dàocǎoduī zài cāngkù lǐ — The farmers piled the straw in the barn.

3. manuscript; draft (of a document)

   我还在修改报告的草稿。 wǒ hái zài xiūgǎi bàogào de cǎogǎo — I'm still revising the draft of the report.

4. careless; rough; cursory

   他做事很草率，常出差错。 tā zuòshì hěn cǎoshuài cháng chūchācuò — He works carelessly and often makes mistakes.
