舒展 — shūzhǎn

1. to roll out (e.g. a scroll, carpet)

   他把地毯舒展在地板上。 tā bǎ dìtǎn shūzhǎn zài dìbǎn shàng — He rolled out the carpet on the floor.

2. to extend; to stretch out (a limb, body, or object)

   她在瑜伽课上舒展四肢。 tā zài yújiā kè shàng shūzhǎn sìzhī — She stretched out her limbs in the yoga class.

3. to smooth out (wrinkles, creases)

   他用手掌把衣服上的褶皱舒展开来。 tā yòngshǒuzhǎng bǎ yīfú shàng de zhězhòu shūzhǎn kāilái — He smoothed out the creases on the clothes with his palm.

4. to unfold (figurative: to open up, relax)

   经过短暂休息，他的笑容逐渐舒展起来。 jīngguò duǎnzàn xiūxī tā de xiàoróng zhújiàn shūzhǎn qǐlái — After a short rest, his smile gradually unfolded.
