1. to realize; to be aware of; to feel (that)

   他自觉到自己的错误并主动道歉。 tā zìjué dào zìjǐ de cuòwù bìng zhǔdòng dàoqiàn — He realized his mistake and apologized voluntarily.

2. conscientious; self-disciplined; responsible (predisposed to do the right thing, considerate of others)

   她很自觉，常常在公共场所主动捡起垃圾。 tā hěn zìjué chángcháng zài gōnggòngchǎngsuǒ zhǔdòng jiǎnqǐ lājī — She is very conscientious and often picks up litter in public places on her own.
