1. self; oneself (bound form)

   他有很强的自尊。 tā yǒu hěn qiáng de zìzūn — He has strong self-esteem.

2. from; since (indicating origin or starting point)

   他自远方归来，带回了许多礼物。 tā zì yuǎnfāng guīlái dàihuí le xǔduō lǐwù — He came back from afar and brought many gifts.

3. naturally; as a matter of course

   这事不用担心，事情自会解决的。 zhèshì bùyòng dānxīn shìqíng zìhuì jiějué de — Don't worry about it; things will sort themselves out naturally.
