脱 — tuō

1. to take off (clothes, shoes); to remove

   请把鞋子脱了。 qǐng bǎ xiézi tuō le — Please take off your shoes.

2. to shed; to come off (e.g., paint, skin, leaves)

   墙上的漆开始脱了。 qiángshàng de qī kāishǐ tuō le — The paint on the wall has started to come off.

3. to escape; to get away from (a place or situation)

   他趁混乱脱了出来。 tā chèn hùnluàn tuō le chūlái — He took the chance of the confusion to get away.
