1. thigh

   他长跑后股部肌肉酸痛。 tā chángpǎo hòu gǔ bù jīròu suāntòng — After long-distance running, the muscles of his thigh ached.

2. part of a whole; a share or portion of something

   请把这笔钱分成三股。 qǐng bǎ zhèbǐ qián fēnchéng sāngǔ — Please split this sum into three portions.

3. (finance) stock; share

   他买了几股公司的股票。 tā mǎi le jǐgǔ gōngsī de gǔpiào — He bought several shares of the company.

4. strand of a thread; strand (e.g., of hair or fiber)

   地上有几股线断了。 dìshàng yǒu jǐgǔ xiàn duàn le — There are a few strands of thread broken on the floor.

5. low-level administrative unit (section, department)

   这个项目由科研股负责。 zhège xiàngmù yóu kēyán gǔ fùzé — This project is handled by the research section.
