1. to hold a get-together; to have a party or celebration

   学校每年都举办一次联欢，师生都参加。 xuéxiào měinián dōu jǔbàn yīcì liánhuān shīshēng dōu cānjiā — The school holds a get-together once a year; teachers and students all attend.

2. a social gathering; celebration; party (often called 联欢会)

   晚上有个联欢会，你要不要去？ wǎnshàng yǒu gè liánhuānhuì nǐ yào bùyào qù — There's a party tonight — do you want to go?
