翘 — qiào

1. to stick up; to rise at one end; to tilt

   这条木板一头翘起来了，走路要小心。 zhètiáo mùbǎn yītóu qiàoqǐlái le zǒulù yào xiǎoxīn — One end of this plank is sticking up; be careful when you walk.

翘 — qiáo

1. outstanding; remarkable

   他在同行中算得上翘楚。 tā zài tóngháng zhōng suàndé shàng qiáochǔ — Among his peers, he is considered outstanding.

2. to raise; to lift up

   他翘起手指数了数桌上的硬币。 tā qiàoqǐ shǒu zhǐshù le shù zhuōshàng de yìngbì — He raised a finger and counted the coins on the table.
