缠 — chán

1. to wind around; to wrap round; to coil

   他把绳子缠在柱子上。 tā bǎ shéngzi chán zài zhùzi shàng — He wound the rope around the post.

2. to tangle; (of hair, thread, etc.) to become entangled

   风一吹，头发就缠在一起了。 fēng yī chuī tóufà jiù chán zài yìqǐ le — When the wind blew, my hair got tangled together.

3. to involve; to pester; to bother; to harrass (figurative: to cling to someone)

   那个推销员总是缠着我不放。 nàge tuīxiāoyuán zǒngshì chán zhe wǒ bùfàng — That salesman is always pestering me.
