   他长期绝缘于政治，几乎不参加任何活动。 tā chángqī juéyuán yú zhèngzhì jīhū bù cānjiā rènhé huódòng — He has been cut off from politics for a long time and hardly takes part in any activities.

2. (electricity) to insulate; to provide electrical insulation

   电线必须绝缘良好以防触电。 diànxiàn bìxū juéyuán liánghǎo yǐ fángchùdiàn — Wires must be well insulated to prevent electric shock.
