糊 — hū

1. to smear; to daub; to cover a surface with a paste or sticky substance

   他用刷子把胶糊在墙上。 tāyòng shuāzi bǎ jiāo hú zài qiángshàng — He smeared glue on the wall with a brush.

糊 — hù

1. to paste; to glue (as an action)

   把纸糊在盒子上。 bǎ zhǐ hú zài hézi shàng — Paste the paper onto the box.

2. blurry; unclear; muddled (vision, thinking, image)

   这张照片有点糊，看不清细节。 zhè zhāng zhàopiān yǒudiǎn hú kànbùqīng xìjié — This photo is a bit blurry; you can't see the details.

3. to be muddled or confused (state of mind)

   他昨晚没睡好，脑子有点糊。 tā zuówǎn méi shuì hǎo nǎozi yǒudiǎn hú — He didn't sleep well last night; his head is a bit muddled.

4. (of food) scorched; burnt to a crust

   粥煮久了底下糊了。 zhōu zhǔ jiǔ le dǐxià hú le — The congee cooked too long and the bottom got scorched.

5. paste; mush; thick gruel

   小孩喜欢吃甜糊当点心。 xiǎohái xǐhuān chī tián hú dāng diǎnxīn — Children like to eat sweet paste as a snack.
