精神 — jīngshén

1. spirit; mind; consciousness; the mental faculty

   他虽然身体不好，但精神还是很集中。 tā suīrán shēntǐ bùhǎo dàn jīngshén háishì hěn jízhōng — Although his body is not well, his mind is still very focused.

2. mental; psychological (relating to the mind)

   他最近有些精神压力，需要休息。 tā zuìjìn yǒuxiē jīngshényālì xūyào xiūxī — He's been under some mental stress recently and needs rest.

3. essence; gist; the essential quality or core

   这篇文章的精神是提倡环保。 zhè piānwénzhāng de jīngshén shì tíchàng huánbǎo — The spirit/essence of this article is to advocate environmental protection.

1. vigor; vitality; energetic; spirited; (colloquially) attractive/good-looking
