1. to calculate; to reckon; to work out (a sum or account)

   我算计过这笔账，应该没问题。 wǒ suànjì guò zhèbǐ zhàng yīnggāi méi wèntí — I've worked out this account; there should be no problem.

2. to scheme; to plot against someone; to maneuver (often with negative connotation)

   他总是在背后算计别人，没人喜欢跟他合作。 tā zǒngshì zài bèihòu suànjì biérén méirén xǐhuān gēn tā hézuò — He's always scheming against others behind their backs; no one likes to cooperate with him.
