空隙 — kòngxì

1. crack; fissure (a physical break or split)

   墙面出现了细小的空隙，要尽快修补。 qiángmiàn chūxiàn le xìxiǎo de kòngxì yào jǐnkuài xiūbǔ — Small cracks have appeared on the wall; they should be repaired quickly.

2. gap/space between two objects (a physical interval or opening)

   鞋跟和地面之间留有一个小空隙，走路会有声音。 xiégēn hé dìmiàn zhījiān liúyǒu yígè xiǎo kòngxì zǒulù huì yǒu shēngyīn — There's a small gap between the heel and the ground, so it makes noise when walking.

3. gap in time between two events; interval (temporal gap)

   会议和下次汇报之间有一段空隙，可以准备更多资料。 huìyì hé xiàcì huìbào zhījiān yǒu yīduàn kòngxì kěyǐ zhǔnbèi gèngduō zīliào — There is a gap between the meeting and the next report, so you can prepare more materials.
