1. to tap; to knock (against something hard); to knock (mud from boots, ashes from a pipe, etc.)

   他把靴子磕一磕，把泥巴都磕掉了。 tā bǎ xuēzi kē yī kē bǎ níbā dōu kē diào le — He knocked his boots to knock off the mud.

磕 — kè

1. variant of 嗑 [ke4] (colloquial: to crack/chew seeds or nuts; to chatter/addictively chew over)

   他坐着磕瓜子，一边看电视一边磕。 tā zuò zhe kē guāzi yībiān kàndiànshì yībiān kē — He sat cracking sunflower seeds, watching TV as he cracked them.
