1. to worry; to feel anxious

   我很着急孩子还没回家。 wǒ hěnzháojí háizi hái méi huíjiā — I'm very worried; the child still hasn't come home.

2. to be in a hurry; to feel a pressing urgency

   他着急赶飞机，结果把护照忘在家了。 tā zháojí gǎn fēijī jiéguǒ bǎ hùzhào wàng zàijiā le — He was in a hurry to catch the plane and ended up leaving his passport at home.
