眨眼 — zhǎyǎn

1. to blink (one's eyes)

   他因为太阳刺眼，不停地眨眼。 tā yīnwèi tàiyáng cìyǎn bùtíng dì zhǎyǎn — He kept blinking because the sun was dazzling.

2. to wink (deliberately close one eye as a signal)

   她对我眨眼，示意我别说话。 tā duì wǒ zhǎyǎn shìyì wǒ bié shuōhuà — She winked at me to signal me to be quiet.

3. in the twinkling of an eye; very quickly

   功课一做完，孩子们就眨眼跑出去了。 gōngkè yī zuò wán háizi men jiù zhǎyǎn pǎochūqù le — As soon as the homework was done, the kids ran out in the blink of an eye.
