相识 — xiāngshí

1. to get to know each other; to become acquainted

   我们是在大学里相识的。 wǒmen shì zài dàxué lǐ xiāngshí de — We met / got to know each other at university.

2. an acquaintance (someone one knows but is not close friends with)

   他只是我的一个相识，不是朋友。 tā zhǐshì wǒ de yígè xiāngshí búshì péngyǒu — He's just an acquaintance of mine, not a friend.
