相对 — xiāngduì

1. relatively; comparatively

   这次考试相对容易。 zhècì kǎoshì xiāngduì róngyì — This exam is relatively easy.

2. opposite; facing; contrasted

   两座山峰遥遥相对。 liǎngzuò shānfēng yáoyáoxiāngduì — The two mountain peaks face each other in the distance.

3. to resist; to oppose

   工人们和管理层相对而立，气氛紧张。 gōngrén men hé guǎnlǐcéng xiāngduì érlì qìfēn jǐnzhāng — The workers and management stood opposed to each other, and the atmosphere was tense.

4. counterpart; relative; vis-à-vis (person or thing corresponding to another)

   两家公司的实力相对均衡。 liǎngjiā gōngsī de shílì xiāngduì jūnhéng — The strengths of the two companies are relatively balanced against each other.
