   他的目光停在窗外的花园上。 tā de mùguāng tíng zài chuāngwài de huāyuán shàng — His gaze rested on the garden outside the window.

2. attention or regard (fig.), what someone pays attention to

   这项提议引起了公众的目光。 zhèxiàng tíyì yǐnqǐ le gōngzhòng de mùguāng — This proposal attracted the public's attention.

3. the expression in someone's eyes (showing emotion or attitude)

   她离开时眼里有一种迷茫的目光。 tā líkāi shí yǎnlǐ yǒu yīzhǒng mímáng de mùguāng — When she left there was a puzzled look in her eyes.
